Arcetri 2017 Workshop on Plasma Astrophysics

October 23-27, 2017

Department of Physics & Astronomy

University of Florence, Arcetri (Florence), Italy

The workshop will explore theoretical topics in plasma dynamics with an emphasis on solar, heliospheric and galactic problems of current interest. Contributions based on simulation, observation, and fundamental theory are welcome. The meeting will be relatively informal as in the last few years. The sessions’ topics include:

• Solar wind turbulence and dissipation

• Coronal turbulence and dissipation

• Origin of the solar wind

• Observational and simulation methods and studies

• Solar energetic particles and solar modulation of galactic cosmic rays

• Particle acceleration by turbulence, reconnection and shocks

• Plasma astrophysics and connections to space plasma physics

• Subjects relevant to Solar Probe Plus, Solar Orbiter, MMS, THOR
